Mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing… holiday sides can be so predictable! Make this year the year you try something new that will surprise (and wow) your guests. All of these dishes require you to be hands on in the kitchen for less than 30 minutes.
Pomegranate with Couscous, Walnuts and Goat Cheese
: Pomegranates add color and vibrancy to your table. Add this gem of a salad to your holiday spread for some really great flavor.
Prep time: 5 minutes
Roasted Beet Wild Rice Salad
: Wild rice is commonly found in stuffing, but its overshadowed by heavy bread and other high-fat ingredients. This is a simple salad that lets the healthy grains shine. And with a hint of our Caramelized Apple Champagne Mustard, it has a tanginess that many dishes lack!
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cauliflower + Hazelnut Soup with Fried Sage
: This recipe is a creative way to use this favorite holiday ingredient ! Start your guests off with this and they will forever admire you and your cooking skills.
Prep time: 20 minutes
Pan Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Shiitakes and Smoked Paprika
: A classic gets upgraded with some heat! The shiitakes and smoked paprika
add to the earthy complexity of the nearly-charred sprouts.
Prep time: 15 minutes
Sweet Potato Gratin Dauphinois
: Forget the candied yams, sweet potatoes are sweet enough on their own. A gratin sounds fancy, but this dish only has a few ingredients, many of which you will find in your pantry.
Prep time: less than 30 minutes
If you have a recipe you want to try but it calls for frying and you’re trying to eat healthy this holiday season, your oven is going to be your best friend. Prepare the food you’re frying to the recipes instructions (Swap in egg whites for real eggs to reduce cholesterol!) and place the breaded item on a crisping tray. Spray with an olive oil spray and roast at high temps, typically around 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
